StraighterLine Courses Now Authorized For AP Test Prep

For Immediate Release

BALTIMORE, MD – StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com) announced today that a number of their courses have been reviewed and authorized by the College Board as AP* Program courses.  More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the United States and colleges in more than 60 other countries give students credit, advanced placement or both on the basis of AP Exam scores.   The College Board has an audit process it created at the request of both secondary schools and college members of the College Board who sought a means for the College Board to:

  • Provide AP teachers and administrators with clear guidelines on curricular and resource requirements that must be in place for AP courses.
  • Give colleges and universities confidence that AP courses are designed to meet the same clearly articulated college-level criteria across high schools.

StraighterLine has received approval for the following online college courses to be listed as AP courses:

  • Economics I: Macroeconomics
  • Economics II: Microeconomics
  • English Composition
  • General Calculus I

“Receiving approval to list some of our courses as AP courses is yet one more validation of the quality of StraighterLine's courses” says Burck Smith, StraighterLine’s CEO.

High School students can now take StraighterLine courses as an AP Test Prep alternative or as dual credit program.  With StraighterLine, students pay only $99 per month plus $39 per course started and can move as quickly or slowly through the material as they like.  Students can take freshman and introductory-level classes and save thousands of dollars earning their college degree.

In addition to The College Board, StraighterLine courses have been evaluated and recommended by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) and have met or exceeded the Distance Education and Training Council’s standards for online course quality.

Students can also enroll in a subscription package for $99 a month that allows students who can move the material even faster an opportunity for even greater savings. Both programs include up to 10 hours of one-on-one instructional support.

Students who successfully complete StraighterLine online college courses receive credit when they enroll with any school in our rapidly expanding network of regionally accredited partner colleges and universities. In addition, the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT -www.acenet.edu/acecredit/) has also evaluated and recommended college credit for StraighterLine courses.
