StraighterLine and University of Phoenix partner to provide more opportunities for earning college degrees

For Immediate Release

BALTIMORE, MD – StraighterLine (www.straighterline.com) announced today that University of Phoenix, the nation’s largest private university (http://www.phoenix.edu/), has joined StraighterLine’s network of partner colleges. Now students can transfer their StraighterLine credits to an institution that has grown from an upstart in 1976 to the largest private university in North America. Students can choose to study at one of their more than 200 locations, or through one of their online programs available in most countries around the world.

University of Phoenix and StraighterLine make perfect partners. Both believe students should earn their degrees on their own terms. Whether students choose to learn online or at a local campus, they can count on a challenging curriculum and a supportive learning environment offered by the University of Phoenix. Through this partnership, students who successfully complete StraighterLine’s affordable online college courses may transfer their courses for full credit when they enroll in one of the University of Phoenix degree programs.

Students can take freshman and introductory-level classes through StraighterLine and save thousands of dollars earning their college degree. With StraighterLine, students pay only $99 per month plus $39 per course started and can move through the material as quickly or slowly as they like.

StraighterLine courses have been evaluated and recommended by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT). Compared to online courses from a typical college or university, StraighterLine’s courses have been found to offer equal academic rigor but are more affordable and convenient. 90% of successful StraighterLine students were either enrolled or had completed their degree program at the college which accepted StraighterLine’s courses.

Currently, StraighterLine offers twenty-three entry-level college courses online, including College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Business Writing, Introduction to Biology, Introduction to Biology with a lab, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry I with a lab, English Comp I, English Comp II, Accounting I, Accounting II, Managerial Accounting, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Business Statistics, Anatomy & Physiology I & II, each with a lab option, Medical Terminology, Psychology and two developmental courses. 13 new courses are being readied for the 2011-2012 school year, including Introduction to Business, Physics and Pharmacology.
