Our popular College Algebra course provides a working knowledge of college-level algebra and its applications. Emphasis is placed upon the solution and the application of linear and quadratic equations, word problems, polynomials, and rational and radical equations. Students perform operations on real numbers and polynomials and simplify algebraic, rational, and radical expressions.

Arithmetic and geometric sequences are examined, and linear equations and inequalities are discussed. Students learn to graph linear, quadratic, absolute value, and piecewise-defined functions and solve and graph exponential and logarithmic equations. Other topics include solving applications using linear systems as well as evaluating and finding partial sums of a series.

This course breaks things down and is way more comprehensive than my schools's Algebra course. Its harder in a way but you learn more and it helps you understand the material better.

Being able to review college algebra after not taking it for several years was perfect. Having the option to choose or not choose a professor was great. However teaching myself all over again was a bit difficult. I would choose a professor in the future.

1. Assignments and answer key is cumbersome. The student has to write (or print) the assignment page, then find the assignment-no links, then go back to find the answer key...really?

Thought it was great that the additionl resources were provided so if you wanted more info about a specific subject, you could easily find it. I was unable to navigate through the different frames of a slide in the lessons, not sure if it was my end or straighterline's end. (using Mozilla Firefox).

This is a solid crash course in Algebra. However, it is surely easier if you are good and familiar with math. If you're brushing up, it is a little difficult to catch up before the material gets very difficult (I'm not the best at math, so the first quiz was manageable, and the rest were a lot harder for me.) Still, if you don't want to spend your evenings in a classroom for hours on end, Straighterline is the way to go!

This was my first time taking a course on StraighterLine, so I have to admit I was a bit nervous at first. Those nerves were quickly overcome, however, as I began to acclimate myself with the course tools. StraighterLine provides so much course material within the lesson that I'm not even sure I needed the textbook (I do recommend the textbook though). Overall, I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone looking to take College Algebra in an online setting.

Not a bad class but the tests didn't always seem to follow what was taught for the section. If you don't have any algebra background it will be difficult to keep up and follow what is being taught with just the book and lectures. The final is closed book, which is different from the rest of the tests and most other classes so be aware of this prior to taking the final. This was a surprise to me because I went over the review but didn't read through the overview prior to doing the questions.

This course was ridiculous. I would complete all the assignments and videos and everything along with it and go to the quiz and the test and feel like I had no idea what was going on. I felt like I understood the material going through the lessons until I would get to the test. Also, I don't feel like you allowed enough time on the tests because the problems were long. Further, not being able to use your notes or book on a comprehensive final for an online class is asking quite a bit considering I am having to teach myself how to do everything and math doesn't come easily for everyone.
