Bastyr’s Naturopathic Doctor (ND) Program

ND ProgramBastyr University’s Naturopathic Doctor program is designed to help students earn a naturopathic degree in just 4 years (5 years for extended track or dual-degree option). Students train to have diverse, meaningful careers in natural medicine and pass board exams in both the U.S. and Canada.

The program is internationally renowned for its rigorous curriculum, comprehensive clinical training, and groundbreaking research. The school’s graduates consistently earn top scores on the Naturopathic Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), and go on to lead meaningful careers in natural medicine.

By partnering with StraighterLine, the school makes it convenient for students to fulfill the school’s undergraduate admissions requirements (90 credit hours), including its natural and social science prereqs. This is particularly advantageous to students who may already have an undergraduate degree but need to complete other science, math, or other gen-ed courses prior to applying to its graduate degree programs.

Bastyr University prioritizes clinical practice. The school’s ND program includes over 4,100 hours of clinical (and didactic) instruction to help students be successful in the field and in their careers. Its graduates are prepared for a wide variety of jobs, including working as a naturopathic primary care physician in private practice or in an integrative medicine clinic, research in natural medicine, naturopathic consultant, wellness entrepreneur, rural community doctor, corporate wellness educator, or faculty member in a naturopathic or conventional medical institution.

What Students Say About Bastyr’s Naturopathic Medicine Program

“The Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at Bastyr has been the most challenging, enriching, and fulfilling experience of my academic career. In addition to the intellectual rigor of the didactic classes, you are challenged in both your ability to provide the best care for your patients and your capacity to become a beacon of change and hope for a better health care system at large.

Throughout this program, your strengths become refined and your weaknesses evolve into invaluable experiences for growth towards becoming a doctor. The network of clinicians, professors, colleagues, and friends that you cultivate during your time here is the foundation of support from which true leaders grow.” - Alexis Gonzales, student
